If you are looking for the safest new cars, Euro NCAP’s Best in Class awards are a great place to start.

Each year, Euro NCAP highlights the safest cars it has tested by naming Best in Class winners. The awards recognise the top-performing models in each vehicle class. Safety ratings cannot be compared across different years, as testing protocols become more demanding over time. For this reason, Best in Class awards only compare cars tested in the same year. The ranking is based on a weighted average score across the four key areas of the rating. Only standard safety equipment is considered when determining the winning vehicles.

The list includes the highest-scoring car in each category, as well as an overall Best Performer awarded to the vehicle with the highest total score.
