In the frontal offset test, dummy readings indicated marginal protection for the chest and neck of the 6 year dummy, and poor protection for the neck of the 10 year dummy. In the side barrier test, all critical body areas were well protected, for both dummies. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. However, the information provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag was not sufficiently clear and the system was not rewarded. Universal child restraints could not be properly installed in the optional third row seats nor, in the case of one restraint type, in the centre second-row seat.

The protection provided by the bonnet to the head of a struck pedestrian was mostly good or adequate, but poor results were recorded around the base of the windscreen and on the stiff windscreen pillars. The bumper provided good or adequate protection to pedestrians' legs and protection of the pelvis area was predominantly good.

The Doblò has a seatbelt reminder system for the front and second row seats, as well as the optional third row. It does not have a speed limiter, a lane assistance system or an autonomous emergency braking system.

The passenger compartment of the Doblò remained stable in the frontal offset test, even though there was some deformation around the rear door aperture. Dummy readings showed good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. FIAT showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. There was insufficient pressure in the driver's airbag to prevent the head from 'bottoming out' and making contact with the steering wheel. Dummy readings were good but the Doblò was penalised and driver head protection rated as adequate. In the same test, dummy readings of chest compression indicated marginal protection of the passenger's chest. Protection of the chest of the small female driver was also rated as marginal in the full-width rigid barrier test. For the rear passenger, dummy readings showed weak protection of the chest but a penalty for high seatbelt loads reduced the assessment of chest protection to poor. In both the side barrier and more severe side pole impact, dummy readings were good for all critical body regions and maximum points were scored. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated marginal whiplash protection in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated poor whiplash protection. The Doblò has no autonomous emergency braking system.
