Comments
Front impact
The passenger dummy scored maximum points in the frontal impact. Structures in the dashboard presented a potential hazard to the knees and femurs of the driver.

Side impact
The Eos scored maximum points for its performance in the side impact test. In the pole test, the driver's door became unlatched and the car lost one of the two points available. The front part of the removable roof was also detached from its connection with the windscreen pillar on the passenger's side in the pole test. Although this area is not currently part of Euro NCAP's scoring system, it is considered potentially hazardous and Volkswagen have informed us that they will investigate the failure.

Child-protection
The Eos scored maximum points for child protection, based on the dummy responses in frontal and side impacts. The passenger airbag can be disabled by means of a switch to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. However, information provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag is not sufficiently clear. Labels warning of the dangers of using a rearward-facing child restraint in the passenger's seat without deactivating the airbag were not permanently attached. The presence of ISOFIX anchorages in the rear outboard seats was not clearly marked.

Pedestrian protection
The protection offered by the bumper was rated predominantly as fair. However, the leading edge of the bonnet did not score any points.
