Comments Front impact Components in the engine bay moved rearward in the impact, causing the driver's footwell to tear and some spot welds to release. Several structures in the dashboard presented a hazard to the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. The brake pedal moved rearward by more than 100mm, posing some threat to the driver's lower legs and ankles.
Side impact The Carnival/Sedona scored full points for its performance in the side impact and pole tests.
Child-protection The passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used. However, information provided to the driver about the status of the airbag is not sufficiently clear. The label warning against the use of a rearward facing child restraint in that seating position was only on one side of the sun visor and could not be seen with the visor stowed. The presence of ISOFIX anchorages in the rear outboard seats was not clearly indicated.
Pedestrian protection The bumper and the front edge of the bonnet scored no points for the protection they offered to pedestrians' legs. The part of the bonnet likely to be struck by a child's head also offered no protection. The protection offered by the bonnet to an adult's head was predominantly poor.
