Front impact
For this test, the Sandero was fitted with front seatbelt pretensioners and a more refined load-limiter which helped to reduce the loading on the dummies' chests. Structurally, the two cars performed very similarly with some spot welds releasing at the base of the A-pillar but the passenger compartment remaining stable. Structures in the dashboard presented a risk of injury to the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger.
Side impact
In this test, the Sandero was fitted with the side impact thorax and head-protecting airbag which is fitted either as standard equipment or as an option. Compared to the base car, protection of the pelvis, abdomen and, in particular, the chest is improved. Protection of the head is good and the car scored maximum points in the pole test.
Child occupant
The passenger airbag can be deactivated to allow a rearward facing child restraint to be used. However, information provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag is not sufficiently clear. The label warning of the dangers of using a rearward facing child seat without having first disabled the airbag was unclear and was not permanently attached. The presence of ISOFIX anchorages in the rear outboard seats was not clearly marked.
Pedestrian
Neither the bumper nor the front edge of the bonnet scored any points for the protection offered to pedestrians' legs. The bonnet surface was rated as predominantly poor for the proection offered to the head of both a struck child and an adult.
